Pelikan

Le restaurant Pélikan occupies a special place in the hearts of fans of traditional Swedish cuisine.

As the first restaurant we tried in Sweden, it was only natural that we should go there for an immersion in the local flavours.
And the least we can say is that we were not disappointed! Despite its enduring popularity, Pélikan has managed to preserve its authenticity and its old-world charm.

Founded in the last century, this emblematic restaurant continues to delight the taste buds with a menu featuring the great classics of Swedish gastronomy. But there's no question of resting on its laurels: each dish is a real success, combining tradition and creativity. Marinated herring, Västerbottenpaj (a real treat!), blueberry tart... So many specialities that won us over and that we can't wait to rediscover during our next stay in France. Stockholm.

One thing's for sure: we haven't finished with Pelikan yet!

The friendly staff immediately put us at ease in a relaxed atmosphere.

Here you can enjoy "English breakfast"The menu includes a wide range of delicious dishes, from the small mountains of pancakes with cream and blueberries to the delicious eggs Benedict.

Walls and ceilings are covered with notes and anecdotes left by customers from all over the world. It's a fun custom that you can indulge in, if you can find a spare seat! The Café Schweizer is a very popular spot, and for good reason: you'll find everything you'd expect from a café. traditional Swedish coffee. Prawn sandwiches, seafood cakes, kanelbullar (cinnamon rolls) (cinnamon buns), blueberry cake... In fact, it's hard to choose just because the window displays are so tempting!

However, there is no question here of falling into the " cheap" everything is homemade with treatment ‎and generosity. We went for the blueberry cake with whipped cream, a little sugar bomb to die for... All washed down with a delicious hot chocolate to share: be warned, the quantities are significant!

Stockholm City Food Hall :

Looking for a quality street food but you don't know where to start? Head for the Stockholm City Food Hall ! This atypical venue actually brings together 8 small restaurants with very distinct universes. From Italy to Thailand, Japan to America, there's something for everyone.

A real treat for fans of diversity! The concept is simple and clever: you order wherever you like, then sit down at the communal tables in the food hall to enjoy your meal. It's ideal when everyone wants something different! For our part, we went for sandwiches such as the " grilled cheese "But you could just as easily be tempted by a burger, a wok or a pizza. Whether for breakfast, lunch or an afternoon snack, these historic cafés know how to welcome their customers with warmth and friendliness. Their narrow, cosy spaces make them ideal places to warm up in winter, and when the sun comes out, their shady terraces are also very popular.

Kaffekoppen and Chokladkoppen offer a similar menu, just like many Swedish cafés: lasagne, savoury tarts, sandwiches and salads... as well as a range of slightly more sophisticated desserts, which will certainly be harder for you to decide.

For a gourmet break that's easy on the nerves and respectful of the environment. culinary traditions SwedishWe recommend it!
