During our visit, we were enchanted by the natural beauty all around us. From granite coasts at picturesque fishing villagesEach island has its own unique charm.
We began our exploration with the island of Styrsöwhere we took a pleasant walk along the coastal paths. The charming local houses and the peaceful atmosphere completely won us over (as we were visiting at the end of May, we were almost alone...).
We then climbed to the highest point on the island, Stora Röswhich offers breathtaking view the archipelago and the fishermen's huts that dot the landscape.
We continued our adventure towards the island of Donsölinked by a small bridge. Donsö is famous for its red fishermen's hutsAn authentic setting, just what we were looking for.
For a gourmet break, take the time to stop off at one of the many small restaurants in the area. local cafés and restaurantsHere you can enjoy fresh seafood specialities such as prawn bouquets (a particularly popular dish with the locals!).
Whether you spend half a day or a whole day on the islands, you're sure to fall under the spell of their tranquillity and their beauty natural. Make the most of this getaway to recharge your batteries and soak up the Swedish island atmosphere.
Our advice: Make a trip to the islands a priority in spring, before the influx of tourists and summer residents. Take the time to explore the coastal paths and narrow lanes that wind through the islands for spectacular views. And don't forget to sample the local seafood specialities in the archipelago's small cafés and restaurants.
