Paws of Björnlund is a "husky village" run by two passionate mushers, in the heart of Swedish Lapland.
Located at 1h30 from Skellefteå and 2h30 from Umeå, their goal is to offer an authentic experience, far from tourist structures where dogs are only used to walk visitors.
Here you go sledding with competitive dogs, trained for racing.
A morning at Paws of Björnlund
Paws of Björnlund offers several types of activities, adapted to your desires and the time available. For our part, we traveled the 24 km loop, a 3 to 4 hour adventure.
As soon as we arrived, the mushers explained to us their philosophy, based on animal welfare, and gave us some safety instructions. They also lent us some suitable shoes – even when well equipped, your feet can quickly get cold if you stay still in the snow.
We then have prepared the dogs, helping them to get equipped, before taking their place on the sled.
The 24 km offered us magnificent landscapes, a wild and unspoiled nature, almost virgin, which reminded us why we had chosen Sweden.
And as at home Majik Mushing, we were lucky to drive the sleigh ourselves, alternating roles when we wanted: one drove, while the other enjoyed the scenery from the comfort of the front.
Back at camp, the dogs were given their reward : beautiful pieces of salmon!
Other activities at Paws of Björnlund
If you have less time or a tighter budget, you can opt for a shorter tour. It is also possible to visit the kennel without sledding, to discover the life of mushers and meet their dogs.
In summer, Paws of Björnlund offers other activities, adapted to climatic conditions, to continue to share their passion for huskies all year round.
