Located on the east coast of Sweden, on the Gulf of Bothnia, the High Coast (High Coast<\/strong><\/em><\/a>) is a unique region, shaped by rare geological phenomena. It extends into the V\u00e4sternorrland County<\/strong>, between the towns of H\u00e4rn\u00f6sand and \u00d6rnsk\u00f6ldsvik, and owes its name to its steep coastline, the highest in the entire Baltic Sea.<\/p>

At the heart of this region is the\u00a0national park of Skuleskogen<\/em><\/a><\/strong>, one of Sweden's 30 national parks and, without a doubt, one of the most impressive we have explored since moving to the country. This place holds a special place in our hearts, not only because it was one of the first we discovered, but also because it is located only a few kilometers from our home.<\/p>

But the Haute C\u00f4te is not just a national park: it is a mosaic of\u00a0spectacular landscapes,<\/strong> between deep forests, peaceful lakes, archipelago with colorful houses, dizzying rock formations and a rich gastronomic culture. In short, a true paradise, whatever the season!<\/p>

The Haute C\u00f4te is a true paradise for hikers. Whether in the\u00a0Skuleskogen National Park<\/strong>\u00a0or elsewhere in the region, numerous trails allow you to discover spectacular landscapes between forests, cliffs and breathtaking views of the archipelago.<\/p>

It is impossible to talk about the Haute C\u00f4te without mentioning its emblematic suspension bridge, the\u00a0High Cushion Bron<\/strong><\/em>. Majestically rising above the river\u00a0Angerman\u00e4lven<\/strong>, it connects the municipalities of\u00a0Kramfors<\/strong>\u00a0\u200eand\u00a0Harnosand<\/strong>\u00a0and makes the country proud.<\/p>

The story goes that it was inspired by the famous Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. With its elegant lines and imposing span, it fits perfectly into this landscape where nature remains sovereign, giving an impression of power and immensity.<\/p>

Nearby, a\u00a0hotel-restaurant<\/strong>\u00a0offers an ideal vantage point to admire this\u00a0steel monster<\/strong>\u00a0while taking a well-deserved break.<\/p>

Norrf\u00e4llsviken: an unmissable fishing village on the High Coast <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Fishing villages are among the must-see attractions in Sweden. They embody a large part of the identity of this magnificent country.<\/p>

If you pass through the Haute C\u00f4te, don't miss Norrf\u00e4llsviken<\/a>.<\/strong><\/em> Located about an hour from Kramfors and 45 minutes from Skuleskogen National Park, this 350-plus-year-old fishing village was a real favorite \u2013 arguably one of the most charming places we've seen in Sweden.<\/p>

Its small, bright red cabins fit perfectly into a postcard setting, between the calm, clear waters of the archipelago and the pine-covered hills that surround it.<\/p>

Please note that\u00a0Norrf\u00e4llsviken<\/strong>\u00a0is located very close to a stunning nature reserve, characterized by vast fields of red gravel. An unusual and ultra-photogenic landscape!<\/p>

When we visited in April, we were almost alone in the area, which made our visit particularly sweet and magical. It's easy to imagine the village coming alive in the summer \u2013 we plan to return to enjoy a drink on the terrace with this breathtaking view! Just be aware that the atmosphere can be quite different during high season.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Where to sleep in the High Coast region of Sweden?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Highly prized by Swedes and passing travelers, the High Coast offers a wide range of accommodation<\/strong> adapted to all desires and all budgets: campsites, Airbnb, chalets, hotels\u2026 Most are listed on the official website of the region<\/a>.<\/p>

For our part, we put down our suitcases at\u00a0Sj\u00f6villan B&B<\/a>, located in Kramfors, right at the foot of the\u00a0High Cushion Bron<\/em>. This guest House<\/strong>, which depends on the\u00a0Bj\u00f6rkuddens Hotell & Restaurang<\/a>, is a more modest but charming alternative, which benefits from the same\u00a0idyllic location<\/strong>.<\/p>

Our room directly overlooked the river, and we were lucky enough to see a sailboat gliding peacefully by as we woke up, an enchanting sight. Behind, the majestic bridge, and a few steps away, a sauna perfect for relaxing in this restful atmosphere.<\/p>

The ideal spot for\u00a0observe the northern lights<\/strong>\u00a0when the season is right!<\/p>

As mentioned above, the Haute C\u00f4te has a\u00a0rich culinary culture<\/strong>. Between\u00a0craft distilleries<\/strong>,\u00a0local beers<\/strong>\u00a0\u200eand\u00a0quality restaurants<\/strong>, there is no shortage of good addresses!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

If you are in the vicinity of the bridge, we recommend the\u00a0restaurant of the Hoga Kusten hotel<\/a>. The prices are reasonable for Sweden, and the\u00a0value for money<\/strong>\u00a0seemed pretty good to us. We tried a meat tartare and a local mushroom soup\u2026 a real delight!<\/p>

Please note that the restaurant is also open during the day: perfect for lunch or a Fika break, with a\u00a0breathtaking view of the bridge<\/strong>. A magical spot, especially at sunset!<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The restaurant\u00a0Tunnbr\u00f6d & Deli<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0is also a great stop in the region. Here you can taste the famous flatbreads\u00a0tunnbr\u00f6d<\/em>, originating from Swedish Lapland, which go wonderfully with the refined preparations offered on site.<\/p>

We had a great time, and for a very reasonable price: expect to pay less than seven euros per person to enjoy one of their delicious \u201csandwiches\u201d (quality ingredients guaranteed!).<\/p>

The icing on the cake is that Tunnbr\u00f6d & Deli also serves as a shop<\/a>You can leave with polar bread, cheese by the slice, or even a whole host of local delicacies to slip into your suitcase.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
